At a shop your car passes through several hands. A service writer takes the story, a tech gets a work order, and what you actually said gets shorter at every step. By the time somebody is under the car, half the detail is gone.
Here the person who answers the phone is the person holding the wrench. Nothing gets retold. If you mention the noise only happens when the car is cold, the man hearing that is the man who will be there at seven in the morning.
Why the van instead of a shop
A building costs money whether or not a car is in it, and that cost ends up on your bill. A van does not. It also means you keep your morning, because the repair happens at your house while you get on with the day.

What Colorado does to a car
Five thousand feet
Frederick sits near 5,000 feet. Thin air means the cooling system, the radiator fan and any turbo work harder than the same parts do at sea level. Marginal cooling fails here first.
Sixty degree days
The Front Range can swing sixty degrees between sunrise and dinner. Batteries that read fine in the afternoon will not turn the engine over the next morning, and tire pressure lights come on for no other reason.
Hail
This is hail country. Hail does more than dent a roof. It cracks washer nozzles, splits wiper blades and pits a windshield until it fails in the first cold snap.
