Emergency roadside repair, at any hour

Roadside repair is the difference between a tow bill plus a shop bill, and one visit that puts the car back on the road where it stopped.

Most of what strands a car on the shoulder is small. A dead battery, a snapped belt, a blown hose, an empty tank that the gauge lied about. All of it is fixable where it sits.

The default answer, a tow truck, moves the problem rather than solving it. You pay for the tow and then you pay a shop, and the car sleeps somewhere else for two nights.

Stay in the car with the belts on if you are on I 25 or any road with a speed limit over 45. Wheels turned away from the lane, hazards on. Then call. Getting out to look at the engine on a shoulder is the genuinely dangerous part of a breakdown.
